Role Title: Communications Manager

Role Purpose: Define the National Internal communication approach, drive delivery of the national communications agenda and measure the effectiveness of its delivery.

ACCOUNTABILITIESPERFORMANCE INDICATORSSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
*Define the communication methodology in the UK
*Establish the national Communications Plan ensuring its regular review with the Managing Director (and/or nominee) for topicality, positioning and the delivery of key messages.
*Drive delivery of the national communication agenda ensuring the provision of specialist advice, knowledge and support to internal clients on the creation of messages, target audiences segmentation and the application of communication tools.
*Measure the effectiveness of communication activities and tools using the data to drive improvement.
*Manage relationships with suppliers to achieve mutual objectives.
*Interact at Group level to ensure that the UK interests and issues are effectively represented (eg Team Brief, Vector magazine content).
*Manage national employee and community sponsorship budgets.
*Manage the face of our client with the local MP, Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce, charities and other organisations where the image of the company is important to standing and position in the local community.
*Build and manage an effective network of contacts who can support communications activity
*Manage team members setting objectives and delegating effectively

*A wide variety of effective internal communication methods are used
*Delivery of the national Communication Plan to the satisfaction of the National MD
*Deadlines always met with fully validated material.
*Communications material available to UK employees is relevant and topical.
*Supplier delivery to expected standard and within budget.
*Feedback from UK MD.
*5 years Internal Comms experience
*Communicates effectively at all levels
*Experience of interaction with local MPs, councillors and charities
*Manage external partners (suppliers)
*Ability to travel in UK and abroad regularly
*In-depth understanding of our organisation and business, gained after one year in role
*Excellent consultancy, problem-solving, coaching, facilitation skills
*Able to drive high-performance and motivate others
*Ability to work in an international context and achieve results across cultures
*Good PC skills - MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
*Ability to develop self and others
*Willing/able to challenge accepted ways of working in appropriate manner
*Agile, strategic thinker - ability to solve complex issues
*Effective and successful communicator
*Has confidence, resilience, and courage - can make difficult decisions, have difficult conversations
*Annual UK budget £K200, plus share of Group budget.
*Managing the potential for conflicting Group/UK messages within the material delivered in the UK.
*Contributing to an integrated multi-national team where some may have conflicting agendas whilst retaining national focus.
*Developing "two-way" communication in a day-to-day environment predominately driven by top-down communications.
*The courageous management of relationships with senior management who do not always want to hear what has to be said.
*Achieving consistency and balance of global .v. local communication in a complex organisation.
*Anticipating with options employee reaction to messages.
*Positioning internal communications as a strategic, value-added contributor within the business rather than a post box for messages.
