COMBAT SYSTEMS OPERATIONAL ADVISOR & REQUIREMENTS MANAGER

A Combat Systems Operational Advisor & Requirements Manager with ballistic missile, System Design, DOORS and Operational Advisor experience is required to work on a six month contract (with the possibility of extension) for our Defence client based in Surrey.

This is a 6 month contract working for a UK leading defence company.

OVERVIEW OF THE COMBAT SYSTEMS OPERATIONAL ADVISOR & REQUIREMENTS MANAGER CONTRACT ROLE

- With regards to the design of the submarine that will provide the naval future ballistic missile deterrent capability.
- Provide operational advice to the Combat Systems System Design team and to other teams if time is available.
- Using previous operational experience, provide advice on the usage of submarine combat systems to aid the whole Combat Systems design team.
- Manage the requirements set for the Combat System.
- Work with the requirements and acceptance lead and the DOORS model lead to manage the requirements.
- Analyse the assigned requirements to develop and partition lower tier requirements.
- Provide progress metrics, identify problem areas and implement agreed recovery plans.
- Undertake peer reviews or checking/verification tasks as directed.
- Articulate and present detailed technical argument clearly, logically & simply.
- Gain a clear understanding of and apply the Quality & Safety, Health & Environment Management System documentation.
- Liaise with both internal and external customers as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed.
- Generation of technical requirements to enable procurement from sub-contractor supplies.
- Liaison with Combat System sub-system, suppliers and MOD Customers.
- Preparation for & presentation at Combat System Design Reviews.

KEY SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE COMBAT SYSTEMS OPERATIONAL ADVISOR & REQUIREMENTS MANAGER

- Essential - Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in preferably Engineering or a numerate discipline.
- Essential - knowledge of systems engineering.
- Essential - Self-motivation, enthusiasm for problem solving and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Essential - Operational experience on a RN ballistic missile submarines as a Commanding Officer, Executive officer, Weapon Engineering Officer or deputy or an officer of the Watch.
- Essential - Knowledge and experience or requirements management or of military policy information.
- Desirable - Knowledge of the techniques of Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering tools.
- Desirable - Experience of complex system design and qualification.
- Desirable - Experience of Systems Engineering in a Naval Platform arena.
- Desirable - Experience of liaison with customers and suppliers.

The role is based in Surrey - commutable from Aldershot, Farnborough, Wokingham, Bracknell, Chertsey, Weybridge, Woking, Guildford, Farnham, Winchester, Basingstoke and Reading with excellent access from Hampshire and Berkshire.
