Cognos 8.4.1 Developer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Building dynamic & robust models in Cognos Analyst.
- Building Contributor Applications & deploying them on web.
- Building Reports & Flow Charts in Cognos Manager and automating them.
- Installation and Configuration of large distributed shared services environment.
- Writing advanced macros in Analyst/Contributor to automate various tasks.
- Writing automation scripts to automate various functionalities of Contributor including Dataload, Access Tables, GTP and Publish.
- Analyzes specifications, designs logic, writes code, customizes products, tests, debugs and documents software applications.
- Coordinates with other technical teams to ensure compatibility with other modules and applications.
- Consults with users and stakeholders to ensure that requirements are met.
- Enforces change management policies.
- Stays abreast and trained in advances in their specific fields.
- Installs and configures application software, both off-the-shelf and developed in-house.
- Product implementation, system integration or development experience with solid understanding of Cognos Planning Architecture and Administration

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Cognos Power Play is required (4-7 years experience)
- Cognos Impromptu is required (4-7 years experience)
- Cognos is required (4-7 years experience)
- Familiar with software development life cycle and configuration management.
- Application Specific Requirements: 8.4.1 Cognos Enterprise Planning Suite (Formerly Adaytum): Certified Cognos/Adaytum professional 8.4.1
- Expertise in Product implementation, system integration or development experience with solid understanding of Cognos Planning Architecture and Administration
- Strong Financial Planning Experience.
- Expertise in Excel.
- Able to effectively communicate with business users, and develop requirements into efficient Cognos Planning models/processes.
- Expert in performance tuning and turning around the applications at a fast pace.
- COGNOS BI Suite: Certified Cognos Professional with experience in developing Framework Manager Models, powercubes and reports using Cognos Powerplay and Transformer, Report Studio and Metrics studio.
- Experienced working with Hyperion System 9.
- Attention to detail is important.
- Willingness to learn and challenge assumptions.
- Works well under pressure.
- Good communication skills.
- Can work independently if needed.

DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

- SAP is desired (1-3 years experience).
- Desired but not necessary Hyperion: Experienced Essbase Developer and Expert Hyperion Reports Writer.
- Experience in developing Framework Manager Models, Powercubes and reports using Cognos PowerPlay and Transformer

Business Objects is highly desired but not necessary. - Knowledge of the following a plys: Oracle, TOAD, Business Objects, Informatica.
- Pharmaceutical experience preferred.
