Job Description

To provide a high standard of pharmaceutical services which consistently meet the needs of all service users, are compliant with professional legal requirements and company policies.

To be accountable for the continuous improvement/quality of the pharmaceutical services, safeguarding high standards of care.

This is a full time position on a fixed term contract.

Duties and Responsibilities

* To participate in the dispensing, labelling and supply of medication for all hospital patient types (Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Paediatric patients) for all hospital pharmaceutical requirements including Controlled Drugs in accordance with Medicines Management and controlled drug policies, Medicines Act 1968 and Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, GPhC Code of Ethics and Good Dispensing Practices.
* To ensure that stock levels of medicines, medical gases and intravenous fluids are adequate to cover the hospital requirements and that stock is stored in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
* To provide clinical pharmacy services to inpatient wards including the paediatric intensive care unit providing relevant skills and knowledge to ensure the provision of an appropriate level of care to the patients which is safe and delivered in a confident and professional manner.
* To participate in the provision of an impartial pro-active/reactive medicines information service to the hospital staff, consultants, patients and the general public.
* To assist the Pharmacy Manager in the care and maintenance of equipment ensuring that a sufficient level and standard is maintained. Also to bring to the attention of the proper authority any defects.

Skills & Experience

* M.Pharm or equivalent
* Must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Additional post graduate clinical qualifications e.g. Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice (desirable)
* Post registration hospital experience
* Completion of hospital pharmacy rotation.
* Clinical pharmacy knowledge

About the Individual

The successful candidate will maintain a high level of clinical practice and have the ability to deal with complex clinical pharmacy issues in patient care. They will have exceptional communication, verbal and documentation skills. The applicant will also have a passion for customer service and a desire to provide an exceptional patient experience.
