Cisco Engineer

The successful candidate will be a proactive and reactive individual who is comfortable working with the design and implementation teams to install and remove equipment, configuring equipment as it is installed in the data centre, implementing changes, providing input into weekly operations calls, timely reporting of issues, interacting with local IT teams, configuration of management tools and other standard day to day operational tasks.

This is a highly diverse role requiring an individual with strong technical skills, an engaging personality and the ability to work without supervision. Individual will initially be the only team member in Singapore, so communication and the ability to work from instructions are key. Must have a strong desire to develop new skills and be a great team player. MUST HAVE EXCELLENT SPOKEN AND WRITTEN ENGLISH.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIESDay to Day

- Installing and removing equipment from racks
- Building high-quality racks
- Managing network and power cabling
- Upgrading Firmware on network equipment
- Importing Virtual Machines from external media onto shared storage and into VCenter
- Loading Gold Images onto server hardware
- Replacing components in faulty Servers and network equipment
- Configuration and troubleshooting Windows Server environment
- Troubleshooting complex system problems (L1 through L7)
- Scrutinising daily exception reports
- Managing and validating backups

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

- Three years experience working hands-on in a Data Centre
- Three years hands on experience with networking equipment
- Three years hands on experience with VMware vSphere
- Three years experience building high quality racked systems
- Demonstrable understanding of networking and IP theory
- Demonstrable understanding of virtualisation theory
- Significant skill and interest in troubleshooting
- Ability to produce high quality documentation
- EXCELLENT SPOKEN AND WRITTEN ENGLISH
