The Procurement Category Manager is responsible for managing category officers and through best practice yield efficiency and tangible procurement savings in agreed categories.
As Procurement Category Manager you will ensure consistency in all aspects of the sub category relating to pre and post contract activity as well as purchase to pay.
To be successful as a Procurement Category Manager you will have:
o Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchase and Supply or studying to achieve the same
o A relevant professional qualification or a degree.
o A formal management qualification or significant formal management training
o Training in 'Strategic Sourcing' and 'the EU Public Procurement Directives'.
Candidates must also have substantial experience in supporting and creating Procurement plans and strategies. You will have substantial experience of managing categories of spend, ideally covering catering, food & drink. You will have experience of managing supplier relationships and contracts within all categories of spend, including managing poor performance of suppliers.
You will have experience of the management of contracting, procurement and/or quality monitoring and compliance within the public sector. If you also have of negotiating and influencing at a senior level this will be an advantage.
Other requirements for this role are In-depth technical and practical knowledge of EU Public Procurement Directives, of Sourcing methodologies and of Contracting and Commercial Law.
