Category Buyer (OJEU/Tender/Buyer)

Role holder is required to develop and support complex, strategic or high value category plans and sourcing strategies for categories of spend across functional and organisation boundaries ensuring optimum value for money.

Responsibilities

* Understand and compliance to the business strategy and policy through category planning & stakeholder management
* To provide support and potential escalation to the Category Buyers.
* Research current & future market trends and dynamics of particular categories allowing the client to make informed choices on future business strategy.
* Support deployment of category knowledge across supply chain and develop and maintain network of contacts in the business and supply base
* Input to specification, supply and sourcing, particularly in terms of commercial risk, operational risk, economies of scale, innovation and efficiency
* Negotiating contractual agreements with external providers to ensure the service, quality, added value, total cost management and security of supply
* Working within a category buying team in the supply chain organisation, as directed by the Category Managers, determined by workload, project completion and budgets.
* Managing the conflicting interests of various businesses and service providers

Essential Knowledge and skill set.

* Experience of supporting the implementation of new commercial relationships cross functional and business boundaries
* Experience of completing OJEU Tender processes and Assessments.
* Quantifiable track record of savings delivery
* Knowledge of key procurement tools and processes
* Knowledge of techniques for implementing commercial agreements in a complex and rapidly changing environment.
* Ability to influence others, at all levels of the business
* Experience of negotiating skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the business
