CARRIER RELATIONS/VENDOR DELIVERY MANAGER

Our Client, a leading Global technology company have a 6 month rolling contract opportunity for a Carrier relations/Vendor delivery manager who will be responsible for the delivery of dark fiber, bulk fiber, Metro fiber, leased capacity & associated cross connects.

JOB SUMMARY

The Carrier relations/Vendor delivery manager will plan, facilitate and manage deployment of new fiber (leased/non-leased) services purchased from third party suppliers primarily in UK, & Europe. The candidate will be working closely with the technical negotiation team to understand terms & conditions of new contracts and arrangements including delivery targets and technical requirements. Communicate target completion dates and ensure that all internal requirements are being met in a timely manner. Day to day handling of vendor deliverables (and vendor meetings) - handling difficult situations and people, keeping projects on track, ensuring that vendors meet standards and delivery times, resolving issues, working with internal staff and stakeholders, helping teams/vendors buy into and work towards common goals and deadlines. The candidate will need to be robust and resilient (to roll with the punches and remain calm and focused) when a situation is difficult, time is crucial, decisions need to be made, confrontations handled and contractual conflicts resolved.

Prioritization and time management are absolutely key to this position and a minimum of 3-5 years experience in a similar role is the desired requirement, preferably with knowledge of dark fiber delivery. Although technical knowledge is an advantage, the ability to understand and act on contracts, negotiation, project management and leadership skills are far more important. On the technical side, there will by a need to upload deliverables to proprietary databases, some data scrubbing and provisioning experience is also an advantage.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Serve as the primary vendor contact for the delivery of metro and long haul dark fiber, leased wavelengths, circuit adds, moves, changes and disconnects.
- Proficient in the reading, & understanding of dark fiber contracts, with the ability to act on the terms set out within the contract
- The ability to drive vendors to remediate out of specification delivered fiber. Negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated organizational project tracking, communications & time mgmt skills.
- Good understanding of interconnectivity requirements within carrier hotels. Knowledge of fiber characterization, fiber types, physical interfaces, connector types.
- Understanding of industry fiber cleaning procedures, radius bend and fiber running procedures, with knowledge of OTDR traces, optical insertion loss, & splicing.
- Proficient with laptop and window applications, managing multiple spreadsheets & documents. MS projects useful but not essential.
- Good telecommunication background, Fiber, DWDM, SDH, AC/DC Power, Site survey, Co location, carrier hotels, meet me rooms.
- Data Scrub and provisioning experience and advantage

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/ABILITIES

-Formal Education - Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline or 5 years in a telecom related field.
- Experience - 3 -5 years of technology related project management experience. Minimum of 3 years in exact role as delivery manager
- Skills - Negotiation, leadership, planning and time management skills.
