FULL TIME CARETAKER

FIXED TERM CONTRACT - 12 MONTHS

ANNUAL SALARY £14,880 - £16,604

BASED IN BRENTWOOD/ONGAR, REQUIRED TO MOBILE THROUGHOUT WEST AREA: (BRENTWOOD, ONGAR, HARLOW & UTTLESFORD)

WORKING PATTERN: SHIFTS - WORKING BETWEEN 7AM AND 10PM MONDAY TO FRIDAY DURING TERM TIME AND SOME WEEKENDS

Adult Community Learning is looking for a Full-Time Caretaker to work as part of the West area site team.

The successful candidate will perform all general caretaking and duties as follows:

* Locking and unlocking buildings to allow access,
* Acting as one of the key holders in an emergency and responding to calls outside normal working hours, setting and turning off alarms as required.
* Dealing with enquiries from colleagues, learners, tutors members of the public, workmen, contractors and where appropriate reporting their presence to the Locality Manager,
* Undertaking caretaking and cleaning duties in accordance with cleaning specifications, ensuring all Health and Safety policies, procedures and Codes of Practice are adhered to,
* Perform general porterage duties as required
* Undertake first line repairs and maintenance of fittings, fixtures and equipment, internally and externally as required.

A good level of basic education and some previous Health and Safety and manual handling training is essential. Previous caretaking experience is desirable.

You must be able to undertake the physical aspects of the role and will be required to undertake training to ensure competence in a variety of areas including portable appliance testing, manual handling, basic first aid and legionella testing.

The role requires the successful candidate to work shift patterns between 7am and 10pm Monday to Friday during term time, and some weekends. During non term time the working pattern will be daytime. The post holder will have a flexible attitude towards working rota and shift patterns and providing sickness/absence cover and the ability to work calmly under pressure.

The duties of this job require the post holder to travel throughout an operational area, therefore a valid driving licence and use of car is preferred unless the role can be undertaken effectively by other alternative transport arrangements.
