C++ Software Design Engineer

Our client is one of the top three consumer E-commerce businesses, the largest online travel service in the world and the fourth largest US travel agency. Currently this client is looking for a talented C++ Software Design Engineer capable of designing and implementing client and server software. The architecture leveraged forms the backbone of the client offering connecting customers and hotel reservation systems around the world. Lodging applications are designed to handle many millions of transactions a day, billions of rows of data and run in a Real Time 24x7, global, environment so robustness, scalability, and reliability are critical.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design and implement powerful, highly scalable, and reliable client and server applications.
- Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs.
- Interact with Development Lead, Program Managers and Test Engineers to contribute to and review functional specifications and test cases.
- Resolve defects in your own and other's code
- Contribute to advancing the team's design methodology and quality programming practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years of experience with C++ development
- At least one year of XML experience
- Experience with SOA - writing services and clients
- Experience with Windows OS
- Experience with and ability to write and run SQL queries
- Extensive experience in C++ and Microsoft Databases on Windows platforms
- Strong understanding of optimal performance in C++
- Extensive experience with design concepts, development frameworks, and SOA architectures
- Experience with related technologies such as AJAX, JavaScript, XML, DHTML, XSL, IIS and SQL
- Perforce experience strongly preferred, but other similar tools (CVS, Source Depot)
- Familiarity and experience with C# nice to have
- Multithreading experience including debugging Multithreading and concurrency issues nice to have
- Strong experience with algorithms and data structures, multi-threading, concurrency, caching and scalable/distributed systems
- Middle tier to Back End experience in web Servers and Back End Servers in large scale environments preferred
- Knowledge and experience with agile/iterative and object-oriented methodologies, notations, and processes
- Strong understanding of technologies and product suites commonly used in technology solutions
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong initiative and self-motivation
- Must be able to articulate their experience with and problems with proposed solutions
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication
