Role Summary/Purpose

Buyer/Planner required for a world leading Oil and Gas Company based in Farnborough for a 3 month initial contract. The Buyer will be a key member of the company's Oilfield Technology Materials team in the production of cutting edge technology. Candidates will support execution of quarterly build plan and manage the sourcing cycle of products and services from specific vendors to ensure cost, quality, and on-time delivery targets are achieved

Essential Responsibilities 

- Support the Purchasing Team to Achieve best value, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs 
- Create and execute procurement plans ensuring all parts are delivered to specification at negotiated price to allow on time release of the build plan 
- Identify and Expedite deliveries with suppliers, confirm dates, enter data on SAP/Excel and monitor requirements. 
- Manage inventory for assigned parts portfolio, aligning material input to support customer requirements while financial inventory objectives are accomplished 
- Work with the Master Scheduler to develop and execute the Production Plan for their responsible products to meet customer, intercompany and forecast demands. Use daily and long range scheduling to drive Material Requirements and proactively set levels of production output 
- Actively communicate across business functions to effectively coordinate operations between Fulfillment, Production, Sourcing and Sales 
- Facilitate Engineering change requests implementation and items non-conformance resolution. (Stock at vendor, Open Purchase Orders, RFQS, Raw Material, WIP and Finished Goods) 
- Write, manage, and update the production control data and working rules and drive cost and cycle time reduction with supplier base using Six Sigma methodology 
- Maintain Materials, Routing, PIR and BOM master records to support product build and purchasing of parts

Required Qualifications: 

- Degree from an accredited college or significant work experience in manufacturing planning, production or purchasing. 
- Experience in a Planning/Purchasing role using an ERP/MRP system 
- Experience of ERP systems and advanced level understanding of concepts and principles (SAP MM/PD/SD preferential) 
- Knowledge of Electrical parts, components and makes

Desired Qualifications: 

- Previous experience in a technical environment with an appreciation of engineering processes 
- Knowledge of subcontractor and supplier activities 
- Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Project and Strong proficiency with data analysis 
- Significant experience in process improvement, manufacturing or operations 
- Able to read and understand BOMs and drawings 
- Commodity expertise with steel fabrications, mechanical components, or electrical components
