JOB TYPE: contract (3 months Initially)
SKILLS: Experienced Buyer required for busy Mechanical commodity area. Experience with SAP Procurement system would be an advantage
LOCATION: Edinburgh easily commutable from Dunfermline, Fife, Rosyth and with excellent access from Glasgow
RATE: £26.08 per hour

THE CLIENT:
A leading Engineering and Defence organisation

THE JOB:
The purpose of the Buyer role is to work within the central mechanical team providing a procurement service to the business under governance of Central Procurement Management. Responsible for the ordering of mechanical and machined parts in accordance with SAP MRP demand and the expediting and shipment of these materials in line with production requirements. Represents the Central Mechanical team in meetings with the Integrated Product Team regarding any related material or supplier issues. In conjunction with the Category Manager prepares procurement procedures for the project, agrees these with the Project Manager and ensures that the project adheres to them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
The successful Buyer candidate will be responsible for the following:
Attends and reports at daily & weekly Project meetings, at which the status of PO's in relation to the time scale for the project are reviewed
Signs off in conjunction with the Procurement Manager the T3 estimate to support the BOM content. Undertakes the placement of all procurement commitments by Letter of Intent, ITP, Purchase Orders, etc.
Undertakes and ensures that all negotiations with the Suppliers are professionally conducted
Takes the lead and manages the supplier through regular business reviews (Gateways). Manage from supplier selection through a series of performance-based reviews such as Design Reviews, Production Readiness, Scorecards, FAI and Source Review Boards
Ensures in collaboration with Project Manager that timely support resource (eg QA, Engineering, and Manufacturing) is available. Includes for pro-active as well as re-active management of meetings with key suppliers
Manages and record savings opportunities and be proactive in capturing UPC reductions for reporting into Cost Review Boards
Prepares any monthly procurement status report input that may be required for CSR input
