JOB DESCRIPTION

INDIRECT BUYER,

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

An opportunity exists to join and support the Indirect Procurement Purchasing Function in Rochester. You will be working for Indirect Procurement Services, part of BAE Systems Shared Services. The successful candidate will have previous buying experience The Buyer role will include the need to help develop good relationships with key stakeholders across every business function on site.

THE KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS BUYER ROLE INCLUDE:- Process requisitions received from internal customers
Adherence to purchasing Quality Management System (policies & processes)
Deal with suppliers by telephone, e-mail and face to face
Request quotations
Negotiate prices

Place orders with suppliers using either:
1) the Oracle purchasing system
2) BAE Systems eProcurement system (Buy Site)
3) via Procurement Card as appropriate
Source suppliers and maintain the Preferred Supplier List (including the addition of new suppliers)
System housekeeping
Track savings
Stakeholder management
Feedback to internal customers
Expedite purchase orders

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Previous buying experience
Computer literate and numerate with an eye for detail
Good team player & flexible in approach
Excellent 2 way communication skills
Ability to prioritise and work under pressure
Process orientated
An effective influencer
