BACKGROUND

Our Central Government client is looking to take on a Business Support Manager to work a 12 month contract to be based in London.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The role is responsible for facilitating and enabling the smooth running of the day-to-day business of the IT Directorate, including - SUPPORT TO CTO & DEPARTMENT

- Quality assures the content of the ICT MI database and update data when required.
- Strengthen capability by leading and empowering cross training of the business support function. Ensure the Business Support Function is fit-for-purpose to add value to the smooth running of the directorate.
- Work with the Business Plan liaise with function leads to ensure objectives are tracked and reported against.
- Produce the monthly dashboard, and keep updated as required.
- Co-ordination of the Customer Survey, to analyse the results, comparing with previous surveys and putting together a report to be discussed and signed off.

COMMUNICATION

- Act as the focal point for communication both within the directorate, but also externally. Review and maintain local documents and our online (internal) presence.
- Act as the point of contact for Directorate queries, and develop communications packs for defined stakeholders
- Generate documentation on behalf of the Directorate to meet the immediate demand (eg needs of the CTO and his SMT).
- Organise and manage communication of initiatives underway or status updates to all Directorate staff and stakeholders.

TRAINING

- Ensure all staff are aware of professional development initiatives available to them.
- Collate Personal Development Plans info from civil servants to produce the Training Plan. Monitor and report on a quarterly basis.

PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

- Co-ordinate the benchmarking process, support a fair and open approach and share best practice and lessons learnt.
- Ensuring outcomes are shared with Unit Heads/line-managers when the final results are confirmed. To discuss issues and provide feedback on the process to the performance management rep, ensuring a joint approach to addressing any problems.

KEY DELIVERABLES

- Arranging and supporting Development Event for the whole department (x2)
- Arrange and manage benchmarking meetings, with all evidence collected and collated in time.
- Ongoing support of department staff, including the PA to the CTO
- Monthly dashboard production
- Monthly reporting of business plan objectives
- Quarterly reporting on training
- Regular communication internally and externally throughout the department.
- Co-ordination of the 6-monthly customer survey.

SKILLS

- Prince 2 - Desirable
- Experience in a Central Government environment - Desirable
