Working for one of Australia's largest and most successful organisations the primary role of the IDW Developer is to deliver IT Datawarehouse solutions, taking high level business requirements, solution designs and translating the logic into executable source code. This encompasses new development and enhancements to existing IT infrastructure ensuring end-to-end operability in accordance with IT's strategic standards.

Responsibilities:

- Represent IT IDW within IT with regard to control of quality and consistency of IDW applications, their development, content and their presentation
- IDW application development. Teradata, Ab-initio, Cognos, TCRM, Unix/Linux and other BI tools
- Testing sample data-sets to check that output from the program works as intended
- Writing detailed documentation for the operation of the program by users and computer operators;
- Evaluating the program's effectiveness
- Evaluation, determination, guidance and governance of optimal IDW solution development, delivery, and resourcing options, including in-sourcing, out-sourcing, off-shoring, and combinations thereof
- Evaluating business problems and developing solution for the affected areas
- Service Management and Business Alignment for IDW Solutions (Applications and IDWsites)
- Coordinating with Solution Designers to ensure end-to-end design coverage across the IT domains
- Enforcement of development strategy specific to the IDW systems/applications portfolio
- Support of production Incidents through root cause analysis to identify if the production issues were as a result of a development defect
- Demonstrated experience and proven ability to quickly gain an appreciation of the customer domain and customer requirements

Required skills:

- Degree in Computer Science and/or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 8 years in commercial software development using Object Oriented paradigms
- Database development experience. (Minimum of 5+ years)
- Excellent knowledge of data warehousing concepts and methodologies
- Development experience using Teradata, SAS, Unix/Linux, Perl, Abinitio, Cognos and TCRM
- Teradata utilities experience (MLOAD, FLOAD, FEXP, BTEQ)
- Unix Shell Scripting
- Experience in large-scale systems integration development of programs over $2 million
- Experience developing with Enterprise Data Models and well versed on Datamodelling concepts( 3rd normal form, star schemas, snow flake schemas, etc)
- Proven experiencing using RUP/XP/SCRUM or equivalent development methodology
- High level telecommunications experience including Network infrastructure
- Understanding of operational and technical considerations, including network and application performance
- Ability to present alternate solutions with pros and cons (time, relative costs, integrity, scalability, risk)
- Defining development standards & methodologies. Identification of, and compliance with, best practice and standards in regards to source control, documentation, and development practice
