BUSINESS ANALYST - TECHNICAL

SKILLS:

Business or Systems Analyst role, defining and delivering solutions, SDLC Methodology (specifically Waterfall), ability to read and understand a data model, strong understanding of logical data modelling concepts

SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst is responsible for the timely analysis and implementation of solutions initiatives as defined by the IT Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will have strong Use Case Analysis and JAD experience, experience with Waterfall, and solid SDLC BA experience - writing requirements for technical projects - application development projects, (you myst have worked in a Java, SQL environment at some point in your career.) The BA's primary function is to capture and articulate business requirements for various process driven and/or application driven system implementations. The BA may be asked to perform business analysis functions within the Software Development team, including external research, functional design support, process definition, testing support, documentation and training for assigned projects. This is a 6 month contract opportunity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Business and solution requirements
- Functional Requirements covering - Business Processes, User Roles, Business Rules, and Business Exceptions.
- Use Cases
- Entity Relationship Diagram, Data Flow diagrams
- List of SLA/List of KPIs - Metrics
- UI Requirements with Data fields, Validation Rules, Security Rules (Access Control, Authentication requirements).
- Articulate Control points for system integrations - Define integration points, Data contract, System Exception requirements.
- Report Requirements covering - Look and feel, Data requirements, Filter criteria.
- Training material (Derived from Functional Requirement, UI requirements and Business Rules) to train the trainer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- 4-year college degree (graduate degree in business, technology or health administration preferred)
- 5-7+ years working in a business or systems analyst role on high visibility projects within application development
- 2+ years working as a lead business analyst in defining and delivering solutions under tight deadlines
- 2+ years working in health insurance industry. (preferred)
- Software Testing experience (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience facilitating requirements gathering sessions or JAD sessions
- Proven experience utilizing a waterfall project methodology where thorough business and technical requirements are fully documented prior to system development
- Proven ability to work proactively and autonomously based on directional input from management
- Demonstrated ability to write clear business communications and solutions specifications (will request examples)
- Strong understanding of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodology specifically including understanding of Waterfall methodology
- Ability to read and understand a data model. Strong understanding of logical data modelling concepts.
- Ability to facilitate detailed data discussions on technical scenarios and determine the best fit software solution
- Ability to strike a good balance between business and technology needs
- Internal and external client relationship management and facilitation skills
- High level of proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
- Professional with ability to properly handle confidential information
