This is a contract opportunity to the end of 2013. Overview
Our Client is seeking a GIS Business Analyst who is tactical and execution focused.
In this role, you will work as a tactical project based Business Analyst.Role and Responsibilities
In this role, you will work as a project Business Analyst who will be responsible for translation of business requirements into GIS solutions. This work requires collaboration between our Client's IT and non-IT GIS service teams. Some of the key projects for 2013 are GIS technology oriented as well as GIS business solutions focused.
Some of the key responsibilities of this BA role include:
- Business requirements gathering as part of the Project Management life cycle
- Process mapping of current state and desired state
- Contribute to development of an opportunity assessment for solution proposals including business need, cost/benefit analysis, feasibility and gap analysis
- Solution assessment and implementation as part of the requirements gathering process
- Identify project deliverables
- Conduct risk assessments for solutions including impact on business process
- Develop Use Cases to be used by the QA team to develop unit tests and UAT scripts
- Conduct UAT sessions
- Conduct and/or facilitate information sessions and user training for new applications
- Contribute to project look backs as part of the post project assessment process.
Qualifications
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, GIS, Geography, Engineering or related study or equivalent experience
- Solid and proven Business Analysis experience including: i) 1+ years of strategic business planning ii) 3+ years formulating opportunity assessments or business cases; and iii) 3+ years gathering and documenting business requirements1+ years business process mapping
- Experience working as a Business Analyst delivering GIS solutions within the Oil and Gas industry
- 1+ years experience working within a formal project management framework as part of the client solution development life cycle
- 3+ years working with technical staff to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Proficiency and experience with MS Visio and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Familiarity with the use of MS Project, Livelink, SharePoint would be beneficial
- Initiative and self-motivation
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
- Well developed team skills with a collaborative work style
- Strong organizational skills (especially as it relates to prioritizing and managing multiple tasks)
- Exceptional negotiation skills with ability to solve problems and balance varying needs.
Desired Skills
- Member of IIBA
- Experience using ESRI GIS (including ArcGIS desktop)
- Understanding of the ESRI suite of technologies and their functional relationship to one another.
