Business Analyst

Seeking a collaborative and highly organized individual with strong customer focus to provide business analyst support to small and medium projects and programs.

Most projects are application related, which means the successful candidate will have a strong eye for detail and a background in eliciting design requirements for application development efforts (new and existing). Individual will act as the liaison between business users and the development teams by serving as a business problem solver.

The position involves coordinating the process, questions, and techniques to efficiently obtain the information needed from the Business Users for successful application development projects. Must be able to sort through information provided by many people and develop a concise description of the business need. Must be capable of analysing the business to identify problems and/or opportunities and to define solution characteristics. Must possess outstanding conceptual, analytical, communication, facilitation, and presentation skills with highly developed organization and management skills. Individual is responsible for collecting the detailed functional requirements to ensure the development team has all of the details to build and implement the solution, and making preparations to test the solution against those requirements. The successful candidate requires the ability to create proper testing plans from the finalized design documents.

Good solution design is a highly technical skill that requires good communication between the business analyst and development team to ensure a good balance satisfying user requirements, while ensuring that the system remains flexible, agile, and robust.

Takes lead role in:

* Leading collaboration through group facilitation using techniques suitable to the occasion and/or business need

* Eliciting requirements (identify the problem to be solved, establish what the solution would look like with the help of the development team, and document it)

* Planning and monitoring of individual requirement satisfaction throughout the project

* Requirements analysis, organization, management, and communication

* Translating and simplifying requirements

* Documenting functional specifications

* Defining and documenting the testing plans of the finalized solution

* Handling many priorities at the same time (multiple projects and/or business owners)

* Managing stakeholder relationships

* Coordinating the activities of matrixed project resources within deadlines to:

o Define and scope a project

o Gather requirements from business units

o Document business and technical requirements accurately and in detail

o Communicate requirements to sponsors, stakeholders, and project team members

o Verify that the implemented solution meets the requirements

o Define and coordinate a testing plan to validate project objectives

Other Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree or commensurate experience in an information technology discipline required

* 3-4 years previous business analyst experience on software development projects; facilitation experience preferred

* 2+ years experience with software design, documentation, and development utilizing contemporary software development methods

* Demonstrate a desire to succeed in a collaborative team environment

* Perform as a flexible, dependable self-starter capable of gathering information quickly and applying to projects

* Applied experience in more than one of the following:

o Developing use cases

o Wire frame development

o Agile and/or scrum methodology in a business analyst role

o Customer/user interviewing

o Functional and/or technical specification development

o Test planning

o Test automation

o User acceptance testing facilitation

o Comprehensive knowledge of testing methodologies and application debugging from a technical and/or business perspective

* IIBA certification preferred
