This is a 6 month contract opportunity.

Overview

Our Client requires a Business Analyst to work as part of their Upstream IT team on any number of possible project initiatives.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Business Analyst, you will leverage both your formal BA skill with any technical knowledge/experience that you have to offer.

- The possible projects this BA could work on include:
- Oil Sands components implementation
- Schematic metering product implementation
- Field data validation project
- Fluid haul dispatch solution implementation.

Qualifications

Required Skills

- 5+ years work experience as an IT Business Analyst
- Upstream Oil and Gas experience (ideally in the Production Management/Operations domain)
- Some project experience with Field Data Capture systems (eg PVR, Energy Components, etc.)
- Some Production Accounting knowledge (of processes, regulations, reporting and systems)
- Some Production Data Management experience (eg data historians like PI, PHD, plant systems/DCS, SCADA, flow computers, etc.)
- Some ERCB Measurement Knowledge (this could include experience with enhanced production audit plan audits as well as practical knowledge of key regulations relevant to upstream production operations)
- Prior project experience implementing field data management projects (eg rolling out new technology to operators in the field)
- Significant practical experience facilitating/modelling the creation of AS-IS vs. TO-BE business processes and creating/obtaining sign-off on associated decision records and RACI's
- Some COTS implementation experience (especially with detailed requirements definition; RACI development; helping vendors configure; data cleanup and migration; designing and implementing detailed test strategies and tactical plans; development and delivery of training documentation)
- Solid experience when it comes to documentation (highly proficient in MS Office tools including PowerPoint as presentations will be a requirement)
- The ability to be available for possible travel to Canadian field sites for brief periods
- Strong negotiation skills (not pandering to the client out of fear nor promising things out of line or prematurely) while respecting critical dates, milestones, budget constraints, etc.
- Proven ability to proactively take a strategic approach to planning and implementation versus doing things blindly and tactically following policy for policy's sake
- Strong facilitation skills (ability to "herd cats" and facilitate cross asset team area standards)
- Ability to develop robust training content and deliver a high quality training experience for impacted end users
- Change management experience
- Honesty and integrity
- Self-motivated, self-starters with a real and demonstrated/sustained work ethic
- Ability to focus (and not fold) under pressure in a deadline driven environment without the need for constant prescriptive guidance
- The proven ability to deal with politics, policy/policy changes, conflict, stress, etc.
- Highly developed aural, written and oral communication skills (includes an above average ability to design, build and deliver process training sessions)
- An entrepreneurial or intrapreneurial focus (a strong desire/motivation to learn (via-self study), creatively innovate, have fun in the process and make an enduring practical business difference).
