Business Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing analytical and technical support to the business community through the development of programs that provide solutions to business problems.

Job Responsibilities Include:

- Collaborates with business partners on definition of business objectives.
- Partners with IT BA's on assigned technology projects, to define project scope, create high-level project plans and create the cost-benefit analysis (as required).
- Partners with business group representatives to learn and understand their business operations. Works with the business group to document and map the current-state business processes and to translate business needs into formal, documented business requirements. Responsible for prioritizing requirements based on business benefit/impact and cost.
- Act as the liaison between business group representatives and system development personnel during development efforts.
- Coordinates deployment schedules. Create and execute test plans. Manage testing resources.
- Responsible to monitor technology implementation to ensure business requirements are being met.
- Works on one or more complex projects.
- Maintaining an acceptable level of technical proficiency in current area of focus in order to understand the interdependencies between the business and technical environments.
- Supports creation and revision of procedure documentation pertaining to new technology and/or business change
- Supports creation, tracking and resolution of defects noted for on-line portal and policy management system

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE/DOMAIN EXPERTISE REQUIRED
- Thorough understanding of re-engineering approaches, identifying and mapping business processes, cost-benefit analysis, business case development, and data modelling techniques
- Knowledge of systems development life cycles and systems development methodologies
- A working knowledge of project management tools and techniques
- A general understanding of most business areas
- An understanding of business and system interactions that benefit customers

TRAINING AND OR WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- SQL Server database code ad structure
- ASP.NET code
- Java Scripting
- Web services connections/coding
- C# programming language
- XML structure and language

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
- BA role for 2+ years
- Generally a minimum of 8 years related business experience.
- Highly developed facilitation and consensus building skills.
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills.
- Strong ability to build and manage relationships.
- Strong ability to manage 2+ vendor relationships
