Building Services Engineer, Mechanical and Electrical, ME, Schools, HNC, HND

Building Services Engineer (Mechanical and Electrical) sought by our Local Authority client for an initial 3 month contract based in London.

This role has a very strong focus on operational hard FM, and the successful post holder will have a proven track record of managing similar roles across mechanical and electrical property works.

You will be maintaining and developing schools and children's centre properties; ensuring that repairs, planned preventative maintenance, planned improvements and emergency repairs (as well as ME aspects of large new build or refurbishment projects) are all arranged and delivered to a very high standard, within budget and with legislative compliance being monitored.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this post, you'll need to demonstrate the following:

- Experience of specifying and managing building electrical and mechanical works for a range of term, and main contractors
- Experience of carrying out site inspections, preparing surveys, cost estimates and feasibility studies
- Experience of running repair and maintenance (reactive and planned) works in portfolio of buildings
- Experience of monitoring the work of ME engineering consultants and contractors, vetting their invoices and claims for payment & carrying out technical vetting of their performance
- Experience of electronic works ordering systems
- Experience of carrying out Clerk of Works duties

KEY REQUIREMENTS

You will need sound knowledge at technician level of a mix of electrical and mechanical issues and statutory and technical building services requirements.

You must have a good understanding around relevant Health and Safety legislation including Construction Design and Management Regulations.

You'll also need a broad knowledge across a range of services in order to cover different service systems of different ages within the Children Schools and Families directorate building portfolio.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Either:

- a minimum of a BTEC ONC or City & Guilds levels 1, 2 and 3 (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering and/or Mechanical Engineering.

Or:

- an HNC/HND in a relevant discipline
