British Embassy: Business Development Associate - Life Sciences

Applications are invited for the position of Business Development Associate - Life Sciences with the UK Trade & Investment team based within the British Consulate in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the British Government's international trade promotion and economic development agency, which works closely with UKTI London and the Devolved Administrations of Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales to drive foreign investment into the UK, and to support British companies interested in doing business in the US.

Main Job Functions:

The Business Development Associate will support Trade & Investment Officers in New England, as well as providing support to UKTI's wider network, to research and deliver chargeable client work for UK Life Science companies looking to enter the US market.

This position has a strong research and report writing focus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Deliver chargeable client work, including regional market research reports and strategy advice, for UK Life Science companies looking to enter the US market and support UK companies already active in the US. Reports and advice include but are not limited to international strategic partnerships, distribution, financing and licensing deals.
-Write and compile reports on specific topics relating to Life Science market developments, best routes to market and potential US business partners
-Identify key trends in the market (e.g. impact of health reform, impact of the medical device tax etc) to help brief staff
-Assist in management of client relationships and projects.
-Assist with planning and execution of international trade missions, panel discussions, receptions and other events to promote the UK's Healthcare and wider Life Sciences market.
-Co-ordinate as necessary with UKTI's internal network and stakeholders
-Assist with the management and distribution of information/resources to the US Life Sciences virtual team
-Assist in the development of a wide range of high-level contact within the industry, including academia, federal /state/private research organisations, and state healthcare related groups
-Attend local industry seminars and conferences to report on developments potentially impacting the ability of UK companies to thrive in the US market environment
