JOB TITLE: Body Development Engineer

THE ROLE

My client is seeking a Body Development Engineer to join them on a contract basis at their site in the West Midlands. Experience within the Automotive industry is preferred but other engineering sectors will also be considered.

RESPONSIBILITIES

. Organise in-source and out-source testing (liaise with suppliers, organise and follow-up component procurement, organise test planning and manage test method specification).

. Support and execute component, system and vehicle tests.

. Communicate and present test results and support technical reviews

. Participate in the engineering design from targets through development to production.

. Write/Archive test reports and deviations

. Raise concerns where necessary and develop corrective solutions.

. Attend PMST meetings and advise on upcoming changes.

. Support Design reviews from target settings through development of production parts

. Generate new concept ideas.

. Source and fabricate pre-prototype parts.

. Participate to benchmarking activities to support design and target setting.

. Design and build test rigs.

. Update current test methods and write new test methods.

CANDIDATE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

. Engineering Degree (or equivalent qualification).

. Extensive experience of hands on testing (body components, structures and systems).

. Experience in engineering problem resolving (eg body components, structures and systems).

. Data recording, analysis and report writing skills.

. Good technical and manual skills (build of rigs, use of CAD drawings, GDand T).

. Good communication skills; able to communicate ideas clearly and concisely.

. Capable of working under pressure, good spatial awareness and conceptual abilities.

. Ability to manage multiple demands on time and prioritise.

. Excellent analytical and systematic approach to problem solving.

. Ability to take decisions that minimise engineering risk in a solution.

. Open-minded and lateral thinking.

. Valid driving licence.

. This role will require regular travel to offsite testing facilities, including Sweden.
