Bioinformatics Analyst

6 month contract position - Bioinformatics
? Design and develop pipelines to automate analysis workflows across various data types and platforms for gene discovery and clinical applications
? Extract, manipulate, transform and analyze various data sets from gene discovery and clinical validation efforts
? Utilize understanding and experience in assessing data quality and data normalization for a variety of genomic platforms
? Evaluate and integrate various bioinformatics tools and resources for annotation and interpretation of diverse types of data
? Apply knowledge of classification methods to generate gene signatures for disease classification and prediction. Participate in development, implementation and testing of various novel methods
? Collaborate with various groups on reports, presentations and research publications
Education/Training:
? PhD/MS in Bioinformatics/Computer Science/Statistics or a related discipline
Experience:
? Minimum 1 year relevant experience required
? Strong programming skills in R, Perl shell scripting are essential
? Knowledge and proficiency in Java or C/C++ desired
? Working knowledge with one or more of Oracle/Postgres/mySQL databases
? Demonstrated experience in software engineering
? Experience in analysis of gene expression, proteomic, genetic or other genomic data sets desired
* Knowledge of computer systems and technologies
* Knowledge of databases
* Basic understanding of analytical techniques associated with analysis of high throughput microarray and/or Next-Generation sequencing data
* Knowledge of Perl, R, C, Python and general programming languages
