Benefit Data Management Analyst ---Burbank, CA, or Portland, OR or Honolulu, HI

Job Summary - This 6+ month contract opportunity is for a Benefit Data Management Analyst role for a major health care provider that can be located in Burbank, CA, Portland, OR, or Honolulu, HI. The purpose of the job is to work with the Benefit Data Manager to support the configuration of benefit related data.  BETS is a source system of benefits and provides a method of workflow for benefit data. The position responsibility will be to provide analytical and subject matter expertise either through learnings or by research. Primary focus will be to extract and manipulate data, run reports and analysis, perform quality checks and develop related documentation. This work should be carried out with a mindset of program wide consistency and compliance across the regions from a benefits alignment perspective. 

Major Responsibilities: 

1. Act as system SME for benefit design and configuration in BETS, KPHC, Diamond, CM or FASET: Responsible for providing expert knowledge, impact analysis and recommendation related to configuration design of the BETS system as well as understanding impacts of benefit data on downstream and upstream systems. Responsible for imparting that knowledge to regional and national project teams. 

2. Problem solving and Research: Extracts data for analysis and interpretation. Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses on a broad array of issues across disciplines, projects, and functional areas as assigned. Prepares preliminary interpretations of analyses for project teams, clients, and/or department management. Recommends suggested action steps based on the analysis results. Prepares reports in accordance with the analytical results. Follows through any further actions based on the results using sound business judgment.

3. Assist in Data Build: Play a role in assisting the Regions with their benefit build by actually performing some of the required work necessary to accomplish the build. Responsible for reviewing and validating the accuracy of the build. Additionally, attend Regional meetings relevant to the benefit build process. 

4. Provide training: Responsible for ad hoc training to impart knowledge on specific build related topics. At times may be required to provide training support to the Benefit administration training team 

5. Administrative Tasks: Contributes to practice development and department administration including, recruiting, debriefing on training, and developing thought pieces on topics like change management. May provide input to performance reviews of others in department. Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non-compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and the organizations policies and procedures 

Work Experience 

Typically three or more years of related health plan, medical group, hospital or insurance analytical and/or consulting experience required. 
Experience of complex system projects that includes changes in business processes and data configuration 
Working knowledge of benefits, benefits administration, and health care delivery from either/both a payor or provider perspective, along with insurance industry practices and systems desirable 

Functional/Technical Knowledge & Skills 

Expertise in T-SQL (Oracle preferred), MS Excel, MS Access essential 
Knowledge of Visio, MS Project 
Ability to conduct and interpret quantitative/qualitative analysis 
Ability to demonstrate advanced verbal and written communications skills mandatory 

Customer & Industry Knowledge

Experience in rating, product development, sales, or operations such as claims, patient billing, authorization and benefit reporting is desired. 

Education/Training 

Education/License/Certification: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in area specific to the position or project 

License/Certification Preferred 

Epic Benefit Engine, Tapestry AP claims or Diamond Claims desirable
