Automation Engineer

Job Description:
Engineer will support the software development, specification update and provide commission/qualification support for utility automation projects. This includes executing the validation and operational qualification plans. Utility Automation System enhancements and optimization deliverables.

Responsibilities:

- Support modifications to the utility automation network, PLC, SCADA, iHistorian and Oracle server application.
- Programming alarm setpoints and modifiable parameters, automation specification updates along with qualified documentation.
- Verify SCADA, iHistorian, and Oracle functionality. Documentation provided to the installation/operational qualification (IOQ) plan.
- Virtual Basic application code changes to graphic screens and links to control parameters.
- Identify deficiencies and non-value added efforts within the business process. Capture issues on a running punchlist and identify potential solutions that will yield improvements. Implement optimized changes and identify the gains.
- Develop a working knowledge of the current Utility Automation Networks.
- Identify and implement potential improvements with a goal of reducing the amount of facilitation and resourcing needed to support modification, programming, code changes, and associated documentation.
- Execute all different facets of support to fully understand the system configurations and business maps (work process flows) that are currently in place to support them.
- Establish and implement significant improvements to optimize the process flow and systems.

Milestones:
1. Develop a working knowledge of the Utility Automation Systems.
2. Support simulated software configurations into a virtual environment.
3. Support the execution of validation protocols and qualification documentation and deviation remediation.
4. Review all deficiencies within these processes, identify potential solutions, and implement changes, as applicable

Skills/Qualifications:

- SCADA systems
- Working knowledge of the design, configuration, programming and commissioning of utility network control systems.
