Audio Routing Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provides design and implementation support for circuit-based audio distribution systems for integration of Legacy systems with new state-of-the-art architecture for public safety customer account.
- Works with a team, including sales, system integrators, product engineers, third-party suppliers and program managers to provide circuit-based audio distribution solutions for communication systems.
- Responsibilities include devising technical strategies, circuit-based audio distribution architecture, and detailed design work, determining equipment layouts, and conducting system staging and system testing.
- Participates in making Customer presentations.
- Generates implementation plans and system test reports. During certain points in project life cycle -- such as staging, acceptance testing and functional testing -- some travel and significant field work is required.

SKILLS

Must have knowledge of audio transport technology (DS0, T1, PCM, 4-wire, Balanced/Unbalanced, 2-wire, leased telco). Excellent troubleshooting skills required at both the system level and at the individual audio circuit level. Ability to read and created multi-layered circuit level documentation, including bunch block level detail is critical. Working knowledge of relay Switches as used for routing discrete audio circuits is needed. Working knowledge of standard SCaDA digital I/O; contact forms and abbreviations (form-A, B, C, NO, NC, SPST, SPDT, DPDT, etc. and working knowledge of standard SCaDA analog I/O (4-20mA, -5 to +5V, 0-5V, 1-5V) are all essential. Excellent written and verbal communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences also required. Must be able to work effectively with other employees, customers, and consultants with minimal supervision. Experience with RF voice and data systems is strongly preferred. Experience in similar engineering positions is highly desired.
