ROLE NAME: ATC SYSTEM ENGINEER MANAGER

SPECIFIC ROLE DESCRIPTION:

- To take accountability for all System Engineering activity within the Automatic Train Control (ATC) programme within the Sub-Surface Lines Upgrade Programme to achieve successful engineering delivery of the final railway system. This includes the major CBTC signalling supply contract and all enabling works.

ADDITION SPECIFIC JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Act as the single point of contact and accountability for all System Engineering (SE) issues across the ATC programme.
- Act as the principal interface between the ATC SE activity and the System Engineering function within Head of Engineering (HoE)
- Develop, maintain and implement ATC programme SE processes consistent with the corporate framework in support of the ATC programme delivery targets ensuring railway availability, performance and safety at all stages of the life cycle.
- Maintain, control and communicate the system vision of the ATC engineering solution.
- This includes the incremental systems integration required to support sectional completion phases.
- Support & maintain an ATC Programme SRS and provide assurance/evidence that Sponsors requirements will be met.
- Develop, maintain and execute an ATC Programme SEMP for all system engineering activity.
- Ensure coherent system engineering activity across all SE discipline teams and across all ATC projects.
- Develop & maintain a System Architecture for the whole ATC programme to identify scope and interfaces and resolve any subsequent scope gaps or overlaps.
- Provide input & guidance to Programme Technical Boards (PTB) & Engineering Change Board (ECB) on impact of changes.
- Support the Project Delivery Engineer and Project Manager(s) in the determination of both technical and commercial suitability, cost and schedule of compensation events arising from supplier contracts.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS OF SPECIFIC FINANCIAL IMPACT AND AUTHORITY:

The individual will be responsible for managing their contribution and that of the team to the ATC programme CAPEX budget.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience/Knowledge required:

- Significant experience of railway control and signalling systems and a good understanding of modern design train control systems encompassing CBTC technology.
- Experience of operating within an engineering safety management process in alignment with CENELEC Safety Critical standards and/or Yellow Book issue 4.
