Associate Scientist II

Yoh has a contract opportunity for an ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST II to join our client in Seattle, WA.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Plans and performs experiments, records and organizes data, analyzes and reports results under minimal supervision.
- Generates robust and reliable data and ensures studies are conducted in compliance with the respective protocol, applicable guidelines and regulations.
- This role is in the drug product development department and experiments mainly consist in working with various buffer and formulations of the drugs substance and characterizing their physical properties from Phase II clinical trials up to and including commercialization.
- Plans experiments and authors protocols based on previous completed protocols or directly from literature.
- Conduct or monitor experiments including routine tasks such as equipment calibration checks.
- Obtains reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision yet understands when to seek input and when to make independent judgments.
- Engages coworkers in scientific discussion, communicates effectively and is a collaborative team member.
- Analyzes and reports results in a concise written and verbal format which is shared with the group. Capable of capturing, organizing and analysing large quantities of data.
- Skilled and/or knowledgeable in the operation and theory of standard laboratory equipment and with one or more major laboratory instruments/techniques. Effectively recognize an equipment malfunction and able to perform basic troubleshooting.
- Participates in department-wide support efforts such as safety, recruiting and committees.
- Support technology transfer and site selection, equipment selection, process design, validation strategy, and relevant GMP documentation.
- Apply fundamental scientific (biochemistry, biophysics, statistics, etc.) and engineering principles to resolve processing issues and develop a robust commercial product, as well as evaluating changes such as process improvements, equipment, scale, and raw materials.
- Effective project management skills including the ability to manage ones project resource requirements (material, manpower, time, etc.), and ability to elevate relevant issues to project lead and line-management.
- Travel may be required.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

- Degree in Engineering, Biochemistry, or Chemistry (Analytical Chemistry preferred).
- Experience in the private sector a must; biopharmaceutical working environment a plus.
