For our client in BASEL we are looking for an ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST (100%) for a 12-MONTH contract.
Duration: 01/11/2018 to 31/10/2019
Location: Basel
WORKLOAD: 100%
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The company "Adeno-associated virus" (=AAV) work stream group is currently looking for a talented postgraduate to give support in the cell line engineering/gene therapy area.
He/she will manage dedicated cell line and USP development activities for therapeutic proteins and viral vectors and be involved in new technology projects. The candidate should possess hands-on expertise in molecular and cell biology methods and mammalian cell culture processing.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
* Involvement in upstream process development for viral vector based gene therapy products (Adeno associated viral vectors)
. Seed train generation and cell expansion, production cultures via transient transfection
. Application of various state-of-the-art upstream process technologies (shake flasks, wave and stirred tank bioreactors at lab scale (1-50L)
. Molecular biologic analytics as Real Time/digital PCR and capillary electrophoresis
. Actively participate in multifunctional teams, projects, networks and/or platforms
. Contribute to evaluation of new scientific technologies/equipment
MUST HAVES:
. Knowledge of laboratory and/or technical tools with a focus on mammalian cell culture (eg HEK293, CHO) and molecular biology, ideally with viral vectors or viruses, is preferred
. Experiences with cultivation of mammalian cells in bench scale bioreactors is beneficial
. Good communication skills. Good presentation skills and scientific/technical writing skills
. Sound hands-on laboratory work experience, preferably in a BL-2 environment
. Sound experience in experimental planning, data evaluation, presentation and report writing
EDUCATION:
Bachelor or master degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology or Biotechnology
LANGUAGES:
Fluency in English is essential, German speaking is helpful
