Associate Chemist Job

ASSOCIATE CHEMIST needed for a CONTRACT opportunity with Yoh's client located in Hayward, CA

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

- With guidance, primary responsibility is to assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
- Perform tasks according to accepted methods prescribed by the work group.
- Adherence to workplace safety.
- Test raw materials, finished products, and non-routine samples, using QC analytical equipment, specifically ICP-MS, GC, HPLC, IC, Autotitrator, Karl Fisher, Liquid Particle Counter, Ph-meter, Density and Refractive Index meters.
- Prepare standards and samples, calibrate instruments, test samples and report accurate, on-time data, in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent record keeping is a must.
- Log in and approve raw materials and finished products in LIMS and SAP.
- Familiar with "clean" sample preparation and contamination control.
- Capable to perform routine maintenance on analytical equipment, as well as troubleshooting, with minimum supervision.
- Familiar with basic statistical concepts, and control charts.
- Support special projects: method development, validation, Gage R&R studies.
- Assist in investigations of deviations (failures/action limit excursions). Initiate Non- Conforming Records. - ICP-MS experience strongly preferred.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING TO THE TABLE:

- Solid hands-on experience with analytical equipment: calibration, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills, multi-tasking capability, attention to detail, operational discipline.
- Must have a BA or BS in Chemistry or related sciences, and minimum of three (3) year's experience in a Quality Control Laboratory environment.
- Strong technical and functional skills related to chemical laboratory applications.
- MUST HAVE THE ABILITY TO WORK AFTERNOON SHIFTS IN A TEAM ATMOSPHERE IS REQUIRED (MAY BE REQUIRED TO OCCASIONALLY WORK MORNING SHIFTS FOR STAFFING RELIEF PURPOSE).
