ASP.NET Developer

THE ROLE

We are seeking a web developer with strong ASP.NET skills and preferably experience of Umbraco. You will work as part of our technical development team coding robust, high-quality solutions for our prestigious customer base.

YOUR MAIN TASKS WILL BE:

· Build and test software solutions consistent with specified requirements

· Contribute ideas to technical discussions, to improve what we do and deliver best-value for customers

· Comply with Connect's in-house standards and practices as well as any relevant external standards

· Contribute to the team's knowledge-base in order to assist knowledge transfer

· When required, work in partnership to translate customer requirements into technical specifications

· Other tasks, as appropriate.

You will be expected to engage with all areas of the business from time to time yet be able to work independently and take responsibility.

· Technical Strategy Manager - line manager

· Other developers/designers - Knowledge sharing between you and the team will play an important part of the way you work

· Project Managers - you will be delivering work packages on specific projects

· Account Manager/Business Development Manager - to provide technical information and advice

ESSENTIAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You should have:

· Experience of developing large, web-based applications using various frameworks

· Substantial experience and well-developed skills in:

·

o ASP.NET (MVC is a distinct advantage)

o C#

o MSSQL

o Visual Studio

· A good understanding of how to integrate different systems together using various technologies to import, transform, analyse, visualise and export data

· Experience and a strong understanding of:

o HTML5, CSS3

o XML, XSD and XSLT (XPath)

o Responsive design techniques (media queries)

o Mobile applications (web-based or platform-specific)

o JavaScript and jQuery (or other JavaScript frameworks)

o Git (or other source control management system)

o Database design

o Object-oriented design

o Integrating third-party systems e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Google+

o Experience of working within a web development environment

NON-ESSENTIAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

The following are not essential but advantageous:

· Experience and good skills in:

o Umbraco CMS (XSLT and Razor)

o PHP

o MySQL/PostgreSQL (Oracle an advantage)

o Wordpress

o CodeIgniter (or other MVC such as Zend or CakePHP)

o Netbeans

o Experience with GoogleMaps (other technologies such as OpenLayers, Mapserver an advantage)
