Responsible for analysing a list of supported applications and determining applications required to install on user machines as part of the Windows XP to Windows 7 migration project. Applications Manager will work with business application owners to find application installation media, create a software repository, set up test box, install applications on test boxes, and document install instructions.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Review software inventory with the customer to determine final list of supported applications
- Assist customer with making decisions by analysing data and making solid recommendations based on facts
- Work with the customer to identify application owners for every supported application
- Work with application owners to determine requirements for application installs
- Gather all required source media
- Design and create a software repository that has a standardized structure and fully document
- Document the application as far as Owner, Publisher, Name, Version, Requirements, etc.
- Install every supported application on a test machine to validate installation success on corporate image and determine installation steps
- If installation is anything other than "Run Setup, click Next, click Next, click Finish" then fully document the installation process including screenshots

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- Experience documenting step-by-step technical instructions using word descriptions, screen shots and annotations
- Experience with data analysis in MS Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, formulas, etc.)
- Familiarity with Workstation based virtualization software
- Ability to install PC application software on Windows 7 workstations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Deep troubleshooting capability to resolve installation issues
- Experience documenting test scripts
- Experience with application rationalization projects desirable
- Experience with application packaging desirable
- Experience with application compatibility analysis and testing for Windows 7 migration projects highly desirable
