APPLICATIONS DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER HILLSBORO, OR 7 MONTH CONTRACT

The candidate in this premium contract role will be responsible for designing/developing a new wave of social application targeted for smartphones/tablet products; and is expected to participate in all phases of software development life cycle. S/He will work with vendors, customers, partners and internal development teams to remove roadblocks and bring cutting edge Cable products to market.

Work involves support of software developers during all phases of the development cycle including: feature definition, project setup, project execution, platform/software integration, tech support for go-to-market.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

- Development of new and existing applications for the iOS platform from conceptualization to launch
- Development of quality code using cutting-edge techniques, tools, and utilities
- Research, testing, and implementation of new techniques, frameworks, and utilities
- Helping define and enforce development and design standards and best practices for other developers
- Identifying and debugging build/networking/streaming/application/integration issues with drivers and the rest of the software stacks
- Working directly with customers on reproducing/resolving bugs and integration related issues
- Driving customer issues with internal teams to insure issues are addressed quickly and efficiently
- Setting up software development environments like installing/rebuilding SDKs from ISVs on top of the client software stack
- Working with hardware reference platforms, CMTSs, AV streamers, video and data headends, and various other communication and multimedia test equipment
- Documentation including release notes, customer communications, design collaterals
- Partnering with cross-functional teams to define new product requirements, features, and functionality. Partner with third party teams

REQUIRED SKILLS:

- 6+ years hands-on development experience with Objective-C and iOS
- Experience developing a significant consumer app that is currently available in marketplace
- Expertise with Linux OS, drivers and C/C++
- Ability to look at code, understand it, and possibly modify/enhance it
- Solid debugging skills, ability to replicate and root cause problems running complex software stacks on Embedded systems
- Graphics/Multimedia/Messaging/Camera/Database/Push Notification
- Understanding of Client Server functional methodology
- Familiarity with iOS build management
- Solid understanding of data models and data access architecture and optimization
- Strong understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts
- Strong understanding of Server Side software, scalability, performance, and reliability
- Sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, and interruption-driven environment
- Ability to support customers on a variety of disparate issues at the same time
- Ability to work well w/others in a team environment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- B.S or M.S in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering or equivalent

PREFERRED SKILLS:

- Experience working with service provider gateways and Settop Boxes
- Experience with GIT/Yocto, iOS SDK, UIKit, Interface Builder
- Experience with Apple Push Notification Services, iOS Frameworks and Memory Management
- Solid understanding of Apple iPhone/iPad app development life cycle including App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements
- Experience with iOS build management and provisioning
- Experience with agile software development practice, scrum, sprint planning, retrospectives, etc.
- Experience with TestFlight or similar app distribution platforms
- Experience with iOS crash reporting applications
- Experience evaluating and working with 3rd party libraries
