Application Support Subject Matter Expert Job

APPLICATION SUPPORT SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT needed for a contract opportunity with Yoh's client located in Raleigh, North Carolina.

What You'll Be Doing:
- Act as a technical Subject Matter Expert and technical lead for USPS Network Operation applications, client hardware, software, management tools, and infrastructure.
- Provide problem analysis, solutions, and recommendations for Network Operations applications technical issues affecting client provisioning, deployment, maintenance and support.
- Act as an internal and external technical liaison for various USPS Projects.
- Provide technical consulting and deployment support to the USPS Network Operations customer.
- Provide technical consulting and support for Network Operations applications deployed in the USPS infrastructure.
- Develop technical solutions and documentation in support of assigned USPS programs.
- Deliver technical solutions and SME support for assigned USPS programs.
- 25+% Travel in support of applications support.

What You Need to Bring to the Table:
- Hardware and Software Point-Of-Sale deployment/packaging experience is a must.
- Ability to manage hardware and software selections at an enterprise or project level to include experience implementing and supporting:
- Server(s) w/fault tolerance and remote management
- Client platforms and their remote support
- WLAN technology
- Operating systems
- Application software and middle ware.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Embedded XP a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft client and server technologies and associated installation, configuration, support and management best practices.
- Comprehensive understanding of software installation and packaging, including authoring tools and technologies, Windows Installer/MSI concepts and their implementation.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Active Directory and its associated features.
- Extensive experience in installing, deploying and administering Back Office systems with emphasis on: ESD tools such as Microsoft's SCCM, WINS, DHCP, anti-virus, monitoring software.
- Experience using Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for Operating System Patch Management in large diverse environments.
- Scripting experience specifically for automated installations, deployment and administration tasks using Visual Studio products, Windows command line and resource kit tools (Equivalent skills using WSH, WMI and/or VBA).
- Software Scripting/coding knowledge using C# to create executable(s) for use in configuring hardware and software components.
- Understanding of TCP/IP Networking, name resolution, network troubleshooting, and application connectivity in a large scale distributed enterprise.
- Working knowledge of industry security principles including Firewall and certificate related topics.
- In-depth understanding of database concepts, technologies and implementation support practices, to include ability to automate the installation and configuration of database engines and blank/template site-specific databases.
- Comprehensive understanding of data formats & processes needed to automate the installation and localization of distributed systems (ie ability to automate systems that require generic and site specific data).
- Ability to understand concepts and theories at a granular level to be able to effectively develop architectural solutions, white papers, and identify root cause(s) for complex technical problems.
- Extensive experience in project start-up, deployment and on-going support with an emphasis on n-tier Client Server applications.
- Ability to learn independently, research products and technologies using the Internet and documentation, and to problem solve as needed.
- Ability to providing custom and ad-hoc reports on request
- Strong situational analysis and decision making abilities.
- Team player able to work effectively at all levels of an organization.
