Job description:
MUST HAVE TRADING FLOOR EXPERIENCE - APPLICATION SUPPORT BACKGROUND WORKING WITH TRADERS AND HANDS ON TECH SKILLS (SQL, UNIX)
Provide business support to various users across Canada and International sites including new and existing product and deal structuring, ad hoc queries and user training, and assisting with the implementation. This is made more challenging due to differences in time zones and the variation in the business lines, which may require additional time to service business needs beyond regular business hours, including weekends. The successful candidate must be very comfortable and capable of dealing with the demanding needs of the Front, Middle and Back Office users. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that management is kept informed and that problems and issues are escalated appropriately.
MANDATORY SKILL SET
SQL/DATA BASE( SYBASE OR ORACLE OR MS SQL SERVER), UNIX, APPLICATION SUPPORT (TRADE FLOOR)
COMPETENCIES:
- Trade Floor Support experience
- Prime Brokerage Business knowledge
- Global Equity Finance/Sec lending business knowledge
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation/Post-graduation degree in computer sciences: The successful candidate must be a creative, self-starting, results oriented, and highly motivated individual with very good analytical skills in order to apply this knowledge to assist in the resolution of complex business problems. Further, the successful candidate must possess very good interpersonal and communication skills, in order to effectively work with end users and members of a project team. The successful candidate must possess a good understanding of Systems Development Life Cycle, including requirements specification and testing methodologies, and database
DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES:
- Monitor Production systems/Applications/Support mailbox
- Address/Answers/Support user(Traders/External clients) query's
- Participate in the overnight and weekend support rotation in addition to normal business hours
- Carry pager while on primary support rotation
- Development and execution of QA/UAT testing for production fixes and enhancements
- Develop automation strategies for recurring production issues which require manual intervention
