The Dell Associates programme brings together a community of independent, professional IT contractors who work alongside Dell on projects throughout the UK. Opportunities range from one-time deployment roles to multi-year on-site engagements and are ideal for contractors who want to build on their experience across a wide range of IT products with the flexibility of project by project opportunities.

As such we have an immediate requirement for a professional and experienced Application Discovery Consultant to assist with a project based at our client's site in London.

The role is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly professional multinational blue chip organisation in a capacity that will initiate the development and set up of a wider Windows 7 migration deployment.

As the ideal candidate for this position you must be able to display a minimum two years' experience within an Application Discovery role, preferably within a large financial organisation. Your past experience will also evidence experience in capturing and documenting the full application process creating a step by step guide for each Application package.

As an Application Discovery Consultant you will be comfortable troubleshooting installation defects and identifying potential fixes while selecting the correct implementation. You will be required to liaise with software suppliers and gain a deep understanding of the defect life cycle in order to resolve underlying issues.

A high degree of communication skills and professionalism will be expected and as the ideal candidate you will have previous experience of working in a formal environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Providing extensive knowledge & experience of resolving 2nd - 3rd line application issues
- Liaise with the business users at all levels to attain a full understanding of each application (installation & support)
- Work closely with the project manager to verify that the list of Servers to be assessed is complete
- Complete the pre-flight checklist prior to installation of the data collection tools
- Installation of the required agents
- Ability to analyse the collected data and review this against Dell/customer best practices
- Experience of migrating data/content to new environment
- Maintaining the necessary documentation on issue investigation and resolution
