Application Development Support Engineer German/English

For one of our clients in Amsterdam we are currently looking for a Application Support (3rd line) engineer.

This is till at least end of 2015 plus extensions.

Job description The client is looking for a professional (2+ years work experience) to join an international team of software engineers based in our Amsterdam office.

Your Role

You will:

use Kepner - Tregoe Resolve methodology to gain an understanding of the client situation and troubleshoot client reported issues;

apply your soft skills to assess the business impact of the issues for the client and manage client's expectations throughout the life cycle of a support request;

use your broad knowledge to troubleshoot problems in the client's environment and reproduce client issues in our virtualized lab environment;

collaborate with other support, development and sales teams; produce accurate documentation of known problems and solutions; write articles and blogs to help clients integrate the products into their ecosystem; participate in internal and external online communities where product-related issues are being discussed.

You have knowledge in the following areas: Java and JavaScript programming, including troubleshooting and performance analysis (using thread dumps and heap dumps).

Java EE technologies (EJB, JPA, Web Services - JAX-RS and JAX-WS, Portal development). Eclipse IDE Application Servers (preferably IBM WebSphere Application Server, IBM WebSphere Liberty Profile, IBM HTTP Server). Multiple operating systems, including at least a Linux distribution and Windows. At least one Database among: IBM DB2, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server. Networking (Forward and Reverse Proxies, LDAP). Security (SSL, SSO, Certificate Management).

In this environment you will also troubleshoot the integration with Configuration Management tools (like IBM Rational Team Concert, IBM Rational ClearCase, Subversion, GIT and Maven.

Language skill You are fluent in German and English, spoken and written. Knowledge of another European language (preferably French, Italian or Spanish) is a plus.
