JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide business-side support of the Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) Analysis tool. Responsible for developing Oracle BI Analysis reports, Oracle Analysis dashboards, ad-hoc requests and reporting used by the U.S. market or business units. Support the U.S. business by rapidly developing, documenting, and migrating market-specific reports. Partner with the business to make enhancements to existing BI queries, and market-specific Analysis dashboards and reports. Interact with the IT technical teams. Train Financial Systems team in the use of Oracle Analysis, offering guidance and support. Other special projects include providing systems analysis for the U.S. Business including data sourcing, reporting strategy and Legacy retirement. Candidate is expected to understand projects from both the business and technical perspectives. Should be able to work well independently to rapidly build BI reporting solutions for business customers.

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Rapid development of market-specific Analysis reporting as requested by business users.
- Document and migrate completed work-in-process reports to the USA Production area.
- Enhancements to existing Analysis queries and market-specific dashboards and reports.
- Report requirements gathering and prototyping.
- Partner with the business to validate new report requests and determine if there is an existing local or global report that meets the need. Communicate with IT/Global Support Organization to help prevent duplication in reporting.
- Bring a business-based perspective to reporting and proactively suggest BI changes and initiatives.
- Develop at-a-glance executive-style dashboards.
- Train the Financial Systems team in the use of Oracle Analysis and support the group as they develop new reports and dashboards.
- Attend meetings to understand all future releases in BI for both initial releases and enhancements.
- Assist project leadership in designing the approach for a project, estimating/planning, and setting technical direction.
- Combines expert knowledge of BI technology areas with knowledge of the targeted business function to define and document the business requirements.
- Consult with the customer to understand what their technology needs are based on what the customer wants from the technology.
- Prioritize work for local market BI requests.
- Create Analysis queries for one-off questions or requests.
- Work with business to understand report metrics and where to source data from.
- Work with technical team to make all reporting needs visible in BI.
- Other systems support and projects as needed.
- Ability to express ideas effectively, verbally and in writing.

A TYPICAL DAY-IN-THE-LIFE:

- Meet with business users to gather and understand user requirements, and translate into new reports.
- Develop new BI Analysis reports and dashboards based on user requests.
- Meet with the BI technical team to understand data sourcing, availability and creating new ETL's.
- Document and migrate reports in the Work-In-Process area (WIP) to the USA Production area.
- Train the Financial Systems team in the use of Oracle Analysis. Offer guidance and support as they take on new requests. Help to build knowledge of Oracle Analysis/BI best practices within the team.
- Modify existing reports and dashboards as required by users.
- Write ad-hoc queries and reports as needed to support user departments.
- Utilize the functionality delivered with Oracle OBIEE plus, including BI Delivers, BI Publisher, BI Applications, etc.

- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A great teacher who can share their knowledge of OBIEE and train others on Accounting Systems team.
- Solid knowledge of Oracle OBIEE Plus products, especially Oracle Analysis.
- Must be comfortable interfacing with different groups to elicit business requirements and then develop solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Share their ideas and perspectives on how to report data to business users. Make the user experience with BI intuitive and effective.

EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Accounting, or Finance required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with business areas and other non-technical groups, translating requests into requirements
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
- Experience with Oracle Hyperion a plus
- Local (Chicago land) candidates only

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

- 7 years of total experience with one of the following:

1.) At least 5-7 years of hands-on OBIEE toolset experience OR
2.) At least 2-3 years of hands-on OBIEE toolset experience and 3+ years with a competitive BI product such as Cognos, MicroStrategy, etc.
