JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our client, a leading financial institution, seeks a Developer. This role would suit an experienced developer or support person who is looking to further grow their business and technical skills and work closely as part of a high-profile team in a critical business area. The team work closely with trading, quant and Middle Office teams in Chicago, London and New York, as well as business analysts and project managers in Technology. This will include assisting with deployment of new releases and providing 3rd level production support.

THIS WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING DUTIES - ALL WILL BE PERFORMED WHERE COLLABORATION AND COMMUNICATION IS KEY:

- Support of CVA Batch, RADAR and CVA Data Manager and other CVA related applications.
- Resolving questions and issues from users and downstream systems across various locations and teams; these may be about functionality or may be technical in nature (including being part of on-call rota to cover rare overnight production problems).
- Assisting user groups in retrieving data from CVA Batch/RADAR and CDM (eg by writing reports in spreadsheets using VBA and the CDM add-in).
- Investigating upstream data issues, eg assessing content of databases/feeds to identify data quality issues, validation etc.
- On-boarding users (including managing and continually improving the associated review processes).
- Taking responsibility for incident and problem management process maturity.
- Working with business users, developers and project managers to support the CVA Data managers(running reports and reconciliations, investigating and tracking issues, reporting on progress etc).

Required Skills:

- Excellent communication and team-working skills.
- Ability to organize self and work under pressure.
- Aptitude for technical troubleshooting and Scripting (SQL/PL/SQL/VBA/Python).
- Familiarity with Python Scripting and some Excel VBA Scripting.
- Excellent Java (Java 5 and above, Server Side, Multithreading, JDBC).
- Strong relational database and SQL knowledge.
- Linux/Unix familiarity.
- Financial markets experience.

Desirable Skills:

- Ability to write Python scripts.
- Other technologies: Spring framework, Hibernate, Maven, Eclipse IDE, DataSynapse Grid.
- Experience of source control systems (SVN or similar).
- Exposure to web development technologies.
- Development in a Linux environment.
- System and Object Oriented Design skills.
- Experience of collateral management concepts and processes, including CSAs.
- Derivatives knowledge (pricing and risk management), especially Fixed Income and/or Credit Derivatives.
