Application Analyst

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Configures, implements, maintains and upgrades Argus Drug Safety system using Oracle database on Windows Server platform using VMWare virtual machines.
2. Work with Drug Safety group to assist in reporting definition, SQL queries, and setup of data transfer with agencies and trading partners using the Axway Gateway software.
3. Secondary responsibilities for related development and maintenance of IS service order system using.NET, Java, JavaScript, web services, and XML.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
1. Implement application and system upgrades to our multi-tier Oracle database applications on a Windows platform using VMWare virtual machines. Manage patching process and coordinate release levels with vendor.
2. Manage software implementation projects coordinating with application software vendor and internal business team.
3. This position will interface with the corporate and division QA, and Drug Safety departments to gather requirements; implement and support the enterprise systems.
4. Participate in staff meetings and team meetings as required.
5. Develop understanding of general industry usage of supported technologies.
6. Develop basic understanding of business processes and business dependencies on supported technologies.
7. Develop relationships within I/S and with supported customers to improve collaboration and teamwork necessary to accomplish organizational objectives.
8. Participate in a development planning process where employee career goals are defined & understood and development activities are incorporated into the employee objectives.
9. Comply with documentation processes for System Development Life Cycle, Sarbanes Oxley, and FDA validation requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related business field
Experience: 5 Years Information Systems Experience

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in I/T field (computer science, information systems, etc.) with a minimum of 5 years experience in an applications support/developer role

* Business Knowledge - Extensive working experience in the functional area supported; regularly collaborates with stakeholders to improve the use of supported technologies within the business
* Project Management - Can manage significant projects effectively demonstrating a working knowledge of project management techniques
* Communication skills - Strong verbal may be subject matter expert in several areas
* Quality - Makes good decisions & designs solid solutions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience can accurately estimate time, resources & costs for intermediate projects
* Phone usage and phone communications skills
* Must have solid technical experience with Oracle database. Experience preferred with distributed multi-tier Client Server applications running on Oracle and SQL databases with Windows OS, VMWare and SAN environments.
* Programming skills of Java, JavaScript, PL/SQL, and Microsoft.NET platforms.
* Knowledge of file transfer protocols used for business to business exchange
* General understanding and functional knowledge in quality assurance, medical and regulatory compliance, drug safety, product monitoring, and quality control testing.
