Android and Bluetooth Developer

Our client is the global market leader for the development, manufacturing and marketing of robotic and sensor-based devices for functional movement therapy. This year, they introduced their first consumer product, a self-therapy device to improve back health and help prevent non-specific low back pain.

It includes two sensors applied on the patient's body, and a software application that guides the patient through back exercises in a motivating, game-like environment. The software application is composed of a user interface layer, and of a sensor connection library that communicates with the sensors via Bluetooth Smart (Bluetooth 4 Low Energy). The sensor connection library is currently only available on a non-Android platform.

For this project, we need a developer with hands-on experience on developing Bluetooth Smart applications on Android (experience with the Bluetooth Smart stack on other platforms is beneficial, but not required). The goal of the project is to port the existing sensor connection library from the current platform onto Android. The interface with the sensor (data format and content) cannot be changed, and changes to the defined API between the user interface layer and the sensor connection library should be avoided or minimised.
