Analytical Chemist (MS/PhD in Chemistry Required)

DESCRIPTION
This job is in a central analytical support group. The person would be expected to be flexible and provide support to the various laboratories in the group. Typical work involves solving analytical problems utilizing various analytical instruments.

The main duties of the job may include:

- Chromatographic analyses of submitted samples and maintenance of instruments.
- Spectroscopic (NMR, FTIR, mass spectrometry - LCMS experience desired), microscopic, thermal, elemental, and wet chemical analysis.
- Work directly with customers (production, sales or marketing) independently of supervision to define a project work scope that solves the problem and to deliver the results in a timely fashion.
- Provide solutions to complex problems for multiple projects simultaneously.
- Maintain laboratory in a safe working environmental.
- Engage in management discussions as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
A scientist with a PhD in Chemistry with 0 to 5 years of relevant industrial experience or MS with 5 years of equivalent experience in Analytical Chemistry or relevant field.

The scientist also must have:
- A strong analytical chemistry background.
- A broad analytical chemistry base.
- Hands on experience with analytical instrumentation; including instrument setup, maintenance and minor repair.
- Good knowledge of organic chemistry.
- Strong verbal and oral communication skills.
- Strong ability for team work.
- Good professional growth potential.
- Ability to manage customer expectation.
- Ability to resolve conflict.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to provide solutions to complex problems simultaneously on multiple projects.
- Analytical experience in a variety of analytical techniques is preferred.

SKILLS

REQUIREMENTS
MS/PhD in Chemistry required.
Analytical instrumentation required.
LCMS desired.
