Acoustics Manager - 1. PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The main purpose of the Acoustics Manager role is to provide assurance that works are undertaken in compliance with Noise and Vibration Requirements and with the Environmental Management System and that noise and vibration deliverables from designers and contractors are of an appropriate technical quality.

2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

- Provide specialist noise and vibration advice to the programme
- Promote a consistent approach to noise and vibration issues, identify and disseminate best practice and lessons learned
- For designers and contractors working in the Central Section, provide assurance that the noise and vibration aspects of the Environmental Minimum Requirements are being complied with and that documentation produced is suitable and acceptable
- Lead the approach to noise and vibration issues, including IPD9, IPD10, IPD25, IPD26 and Section 61 consents
- Represent the Company at external high level meetings (Statutory Agency Forum, Planning Forum etc) as required
- Maintain contact with statutory bodies and local authorities through agreed procedures

3. MAIN CHALLENGES OF THE JOB

- Working in a dynamic project environment where change is a constant characteristic
- Managing multiple deliverables to meet deadlines
- Delivering on the EMR and noise and vibration requirements whilst maintaining the project programme
- Communicating noise and vibration requirements and creating good working relationships with Industry Partners, the delivery team and contractors

4. DIMENSIONS & INTERFACES (BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL)

- Manage a team of noise and vibration specialist(s)
- INDUSTRY PARTNERS: The post holder will support the Environment Manager to ensure an effective dialogue with Industry Partners in relation to the Companies noise and vibration requirements
- DELIVERY TEAM: Working with the Delivery Team to ensure that construction is carried out in accordance with noise and vibration requirements delivered within agreed timescales and that environmental risks, impact reduction, consents and management is taken into account during delivery
- LOCAL AUTHORITIES: Provision of information requests, consultation, resolution of issues and agreement of mitigation, discussions on noise and vibration elements of undertakings and assurances
- CONTRACTORS: Working with contractors to ensure that construction is carried in accordance with noise and vibration requirements
- FDCS: Working with FDCs to ensure that construction is carried in accordance with noise and vibration requirements

5. PERSON SPECIFICATION
Competency in the following areas will be required:

ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:

- Demonstrable and relevant management experience appropriate to the role, including but not limited to the management of staff, contractors and consultants
- Proven ability to deliver high performance in a multi-disciplinary environment
- High quality analytical, communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Demonstrable experience of management of noise and vibration issues associated with a major construction project
- Masters or equivalent qualification in acoustics
- Membership of appropriate institution such as IOA

This Acoustics Manager contract is an initial 12 moths
