Accounting Schema Designer & Author

(GT INFRASTRUCTURE - TRANSACTION ACCOUNTING)

The Accounting Schema Designer & Author supports the roll-out and ownership to the bank wide strategic product based accounting schema dbSAS (Standard Accounting Schema). This roll is pivotal to ensure that the strategic rollouts of our Sub-Ledger environment deliver clear benefits to the Business and to the wider Finance domain by ensuring automated and standardised accounting for global financial reporting needs. The Book-of-work is managed for Change-the-Bank initiatives and included are Change requests raised for Run-the-Bank.

JOB DETAILS:

- Design changes to the Product Accounting schemas, and authoring of posting rules within the Accounting rules engine (dbpost) for the strategic AcS Subledger
- Close liaison with the relevant Business and Finance representatives and the other Technology teams to ensure that Business and Technical implementations adhere to the strategic Sub-Ledger design
- Maintain appropriate Transaction Accounting Data models that ensure consumption and supply of financial data as required by FDS (Finance Data Standard)
- Act as a SME regarding changes to the strategic posting engine in terms of functionality and the accounting rules
- Be the contact point and owner of related change requests re: Accounting Schema
- Liaise with the client (Financial Control, Financial & Regulatory Reporting) to analyse and document accounting schema requirements
- Undertake gap analysis between current and future state accounting
- Work closely with business implementation teams to ensure the proposed design adheres to the strategic design and devise potential solutions where appropriate
- User of management tools such as JIRA for workflow and documentation.

QUALIFICATION SUMMARY:

- Qualified Accountant
- 5+ years of business domain and analysis experience
- Detailed experience of authoring and constructing posting engine rules and decision tables eg IBM's ODM (formerly Jrules), Microgen, OST
- Background in financial systems (P&L, Accounting)
- Awareness of equivalent industry players and how they have tackled Finance-related accounting issues
- Proven experience of varied regional GAAPS eg IFRS, USGAAP, HGB
- Knowledge of the Finance and Controlling domain and end-to-end workflow for a sales & trading business, ie interactions with Front Office, Trade capture, PL & Risk, Accounting & Reconciliations, IPV
- Analytical approach and strong problem-solving skills
- Robust character, with the confidence to push back on business requests where appropriate to do so.
