BASIC FUNCTION:

Counsel individuals and provide group educational and vocational guidance services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
- Collect, organize and analyze information about individuals through records, tests, interviews and professional sources to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities and personality characteristics for vocational and educational planning.
- Compile and study occupational, educational and economic information to aid clients in making and carrying out vocational and educational objectives.
- Assist clients to understand and overcome social, economic and emotional problems.
- Utilize community job market information and work requisitions to aid clients.
- Search for employers interested in hiring specific specialized skills on clients' behalf.
- Engage in research and follow-up activities to evaluate counseling techniques.
- Develop a job search plan for clients.
- Evaluate and aid client in the development of a resume.
- Collaborate with staff from outside agencies and other family centers as needed to maintain good working relationships and to ensure clients' needs are being met.
- Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives.
- Combination of experience and education normally represented by an Associate's Degree in Applied Science. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education or Social Sciences or related field preferred; courses in psychology, counseling and guidance, tests and measurements and statistics with certification or licensure as required preferred.
- 1-2 years of professional experience in employment services, job development/placement or rehabilitative services necessary.
- Must be able to form good working relationships.
- Must have competent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse client population, employers, and community organizations as well as staff at all levels.
- Must have a valid Ohio Driver's License and reliable means of transportation for local travel.
- Ability to work with youth (ages 14-22)
- Must have the ability to effectively manage a variety of concurrent and varying activities.
- Good working knowledge of computers with familiarity with Microsoft Office software.
