Wintel Technical Specialist - Immediate Start - June 2013 Contract

A fantastic opportunity has become available for experienced Wintel Technical Specialists within a Government Department for a long-term contract role.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Due Diligence;
- Transition Planning;
- Establishment of internal capability required to deliver services;
- Transfer of skills from the existing External Service Provider;
- Transition of services, roles and support responsibilities to the new support teams;
- Contribute to strategic technology initiatives, providing technical assistance and knowledge as a subject matter expert to provide efficient services with high levels of availability, performance and security;
- Manage the relevant components of each solution design into the operational network;
- Prepare and analyse technical reports;
- Perform complex research and analysis to support accurate and technically sound recommendations and undertake approved system testing activities; and
- Other duties as directed.

SKILLS:

- 5+ years' experience supporting Windows/VMWare server infrastructure in an enterprise environment;
- Extensive experience in the support of mid-range server operating environments with emphasis on Microsoft Windows Server and VMWare;
- Expertise in Windows 2003/2008/R2;
- Strong knowledge of Exchange
- Excellent knowledge of VMWare (vSphere v4
- Demonstrated experience managing Windows server SOE builds;
- Demonstrated experience managing blade Servers;
- Experience in transitioning;
- Proven experience designing support processes;
- Infrastructure technologies including Active Directory, DNS, Exchange, System Centre Configuration Manager, VMWare and Microsoft Clustering including multi-site clustering;
- Experience with Active Directory and Exchange; and
- Knowledge of SCCM therefore candidates will need to be Australian Citizens.
