Windows Systems Engineer - Data Center/Hot Site Configuration

Our client is purchasing a major clinic in the Houston area from a major hospital system. We are looking for 2 individuals to lead the migration of the clinic's IT infrastructure from the hospitals datacenter to the new datacenter. This will include about 60 VMware Virtual Servers, Citrix Servers, Exchange email accounts, SharePoint data, NAS data, fax infrastructure and other related systems. Qualified candidates will have the skills to manage this project, working with both the client's IT teams and the hospital's IT team.

This project will include designing and implementing the systems being moved from the hospital to the new datacenter that will enable the client to run the clinic electronic patient record system in a hot site configuration across 2 geographic diverse locations providing for the following goals.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

- Automatic fail over to the other site in the event of component or link failure or in the case of a disaster,
- Manual fail over to the other site in order to perform infrastructure maintenance on one of the datacenters,
- Provide minimal system and application downtime
- Load balance workload across the two datacenters
- RTO goal of 0
- RPO goal of 0
- After hours and weekend work most likely required

INFRASTRUCTURE:

Network infrastructure at both datacenter locations are be upgraded with Cisco Nexus technology in a 7000-5000-2000 configuration. Fibre channel infrastructure is Cisco 9000 series Switches. Client owns and maintains private network links between the two sites using Eknops WDM equipment. Tier 1 storage is being upgraded to Hitachi's VSP platform and is going to be fronted by EMC's Vplex technology. Preferred virtualization product is VMware. The electronic patient record system is currently presented to the client via Citrix Xenapp. Applications will be load balanced using new A10 load balancers. New Firewall equipment is in the process of being installed and is primarily Cisco.

REQUIRED:

Senior Level System Engineer with a background in designing/implementation/managing systems and applications in a datacenter design that provides for geographic diverse locations, preferably in a clinical/hospital environment. The candidate must have the ability to manage a fairly complex IT infrastructure project, as described above.
