Harvey Nash is a global Professional Services provider in the areas of Technology and Engineering Recruitment and Outsourcing. For our client, a global Insurance company focussing on Cologne we are looking for Windows System Engineer on a freelance basis (f/m)

Project Start: 01.03.2017 Location: Cologne
Project End: 28.02.2018 Level: Senior

Tasks and responsibilities

- Management and optimization of existing Windows server landscape
- Management of AD landscape (AD group policies)
- 2nd and 3rd level support (troubleshooting, performance tuning, incident and change management) of Windows. Prepare and execute planned maintenance/upgrades (security patching, operating system and tool upgrades, ...)
- support the OS teams with their daily tasks / support them in all security related tasks
- OS Preparation and Development for application environments
- Support customer to develop individual solutions
- Scoping of new projects and project support
- evaluate interactions with related technologies like VMWARE, network, databases etc.
- support application teams to understand and adapt to the new security standards
- work active on and in the server systems

Requirements:

- In depth technology knowledge of Windows OS
- Good knowledge about AD technology
- Security (Bastion enabling, DMZ, secure protocols)
- Performance issues, performance monitoring, planning and tuning in complex environments
- Experiences with Automation and Config management tools
- Scripting language skills (Powershell, Python) Technical writing skills to provide proper documentation according to internal and external regulations
- Some flexibility in working hours is required (occasional work outside of normal working hours or weekend/holiday work)
- On-call permanency (standby) is possible

Methodology / Certifications:

- Bachelor Degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science OR equivalent through experience.
- Advanced course work in technical systems plus continued education in technical disciplines is preferred
- Additional certification is a plus

Language:

- Local Language German for German + English
