Windows Server Engineer: Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Acronis Imaging, Troubleshooting, HP DL3, Backup, server relocation engineer urgently required for a 2 month contract in Zurich, Switzerland
Primary role
Assistance with a project to relocate physical Servers from Zurich to London with a little downtime as possible, eg rebuilding Windows Servers on new hardware remotely via the use of Acronis imaging and Netbackup restores. Good experience of Windows 2003 and 2008 troubleshooting including identifying and resolving issues with hardware drivers and components, eg when recreating a server based on a HP DL380 G6 platform to a G8 platform.
Secondary role
Supporting the infrastructure management team in the day to day operations, maintenance and monitoring of the Windows server/Active Directory infrastructure, releasing changes, working with service managers to investigate and resolve issues and faults etc.
The contract should be extendable, through February and possibly March. For these two months the primary role will change and be focused on taking on the day to day work of the infrastructure management team while they concentrate on moving a production datacentre between two locations in Zurich (over the course of the 8 weekends in February and March).
Essential Experience
Windows Server 2003/2008, HP DL3* series server hardware, Netbackup on Windows, Acronis or other experience cloning Servers via imaging software
Beneficial Experience
Supporting Windows Servers running VMware ESX, Microsoft SQL 2003/2008, English only or German/English are acceptable.
Other
Out of hours and weekend working may be required throughout the project, especially in February/March.
